Warren Murfitt was born in British Columbia and studied sculpture at the Emily Carr Institute of Art + Design. He has exhibited both nationally and internationally and has work in the Crown Collection of Canada. He lives and works in Vancouver.
I am a musician with a passion for wood. With a love of playing the guitar, and of building, it was only a matter of time before I combined the two. What started out as a desire to build guitars to suit my own specific needs has now developed into a commercial venture. I am a minimalist by nature and like simple clean lines. When designing furniture, I begin from a sculptural perspective. I choose materials for their intrinsic value and local availability. My use of reclaimed wood and the addition of copper, stainless steel and other materials, adds architectural texture. Brancusi, George Jones and the Bauhaus are all inspirations.
